An Unearthly Arrival
Kyle stepped out of his car and walked to the door of the car park and headed upstairs to his flat after a long celebratory day following after Subaru winning the World Rally Championship, arriving at his door he stumbled inside. He unzipped his uniform shaking it off onto the sofa and then slumped down, he spoke breathless to himself.
Kyle: "Jesus Christ what a day. At least that's another successful year over, maybe now I can relax"
He reached for the remote for his TV so he could see if there was anything interesting on, completely ignoring the brewing storm just outside. He switched the screen on only to see static and hear a distinct crackle of no signal reaching the Television set. He flicked through the channels only to see that every single one was failing.
Kyle: "Hmmmm ---- that's odd, they never said there was going to be a storm today. -- Oh well, I suppose I could carry on with those blueprints I need to finish"
Kyle rose to his feet once more and walked over to his study where his computer was kept. He opened the door and sat down on the swivelling office chair next to a messy desk with a small computer laid out on it. Kyle turned the power on and logged into his profile only to see the very same static coming from the screen that was on the TV set a minute ago.
Kyle: "OK, this is getting stupid, nothing works is this damn ----"
Before Kyle could finish what he was saying he saw a strange set of colours coming from the screen. It was flashing from purple to green to white and back to purple; there was also a distinct bleeping sound every time the colours changed. Moving forwards and narrowing his eyes he took a closer look at the monitor.
Kyle:"That's odd I've never seen it do that before, is it a virus?"
After the exhausted Subaru employee noticed the colours there was a tremendously loud crack and a blinding flash covered the entire area of the flat causing Kyle to jump to his feet in shock.
Kyle: "Holy sugar blossoms!! What the hell happened, did the flat just get struck by lightning?!"
Before sinking back to his chair he noticed the computer monitor was shaking rather vigorously across the desk almost falling off the edge at times while the colours and bleeping increased dramatically. After seeing this he swung his chair around so the back was facing the desk and he used it as cover just in case.
The monitor started to glow bright green and a small beam of light hit the surface of the desk, the rays then began to form a small sphere about the size and shape of a slightly deflated football. The ball the sprouted a small bushy tassel at the back and grew fur before the beam retracted back into the screen once again.
After the light had faded and the computer went blank, the item was left lying on the desk behind the chair that Kyle was seeking refuge on while witnessing the scene unfold in front of him. The ball was very fuzzy and was green in colour with a small white tip to the tassel at the base of the sphere. There seemed to be two small damp areas at the front of the orb.
Kyle leant forth and took a better look at the new article that had materialized in front of his very own eyes. He spoke sarcastically in an attempt to reassure himself and tried to figure out what on earth was happening.
Kyle: "Wow, now that's a feature I never knew my computer could do. I didn't know it could form fluffy pillows with -- err------tails?"
He lightly poked the pillow to see what it would do. After feeling no electricity burning him he then lightly pulled the tassel on the back. This caused the ball to make a very loud sharp squeak which shocked Kyle enough to make him fall backwards off the chair and onto the floor with a loud thump.
Kyle: "Sweet baby Mosses in a rush basket!! What the hell was that; it -- talked? Sort of"
After pushing himself up to his feet he turned back to the ball and bending down to its level he tried to get some other response from it.
Kyle: "Hello? Can you, hear me? If you can try and um -- say something else"
The small creature opened its small eyes and spoke softly to the shocked mechanic, it had a very small soft voice but Kyle could still make out what it was saying.
Creature: "Hi there stranger what's your name?"
Kyle: "Holy crap you CAN talk. HA -- um, --my name is Kyle and what's yours"
Creature:"My name is Malamon and I am very pleased to meet you Kyle."
Kyle:"Malamon huh? Well its nice too meet you--wait this is crazy I'm talking to a lime green cushion that came out from my damn computer! -- I must be dreaming."
Kyle then attempted to wake himself up, he first tried pinching and biting his hand very hard but all he got was a few teeth marks and some drawn blood. He then tried splashing himself with water from the kitchen sink but to no avail before grabbing an empty beer bottle and smashing it over his head.
Malamon just sat there watching with curiosity and wondering just what this strange new creature was doing, clutching his scalp in pain Kyle looked back at her.
Malamon:"What exactly are you doing? Is this a tradition here?"
Kyle:"No, I'm trying to wake myself up! --- Ouch, why the hell did I just do that?"
Malamon: "You seem to be perfectly awake to me"
Kyle:"Well I know I can't be, simply because I'm talking to a pillow! Why exactly are you here?"
Malamon:"I am not completely sure why, but I might be here so we become partners and do great things together. --- That is normally why we are sent away"
Kyle upon hearing this instantly picked up Malamon in both his hands and spoke with a much louder tone to this new object before him.
Kyle:"Whoa, hold on right there! I highly doubt that a fuzzy football made from stuff from my computer is going to do great things with me, unless you class playing soccer as great"
Malamon:"Maybe if you trusted me and had a bit of faith it could happen. Just give me a chance"
Kyle: 'Sigh' "OK, OK, fine I'll give you a chance but you need to know one thing, while you are here you need to try and not break anything because some of the stuff you see around here is expensive, got that?"
Malamon:"I think I can manage that"
Just after the two of them had finished talking there was a faint and low growl come from inside her form, Kyle heard this strange sound and questioned it, although she did not understand it herself.
Kyle:"Um, what was that?"
Malamon: "I'm not sure, I've never felt that before, I feel somewhat empty"
Kyle:"AHAH! I know what that is then, your hungry aren't you? C'mon let's see if we can get you something to eat"
Kyle now clutched Malamon under his arm now carried her over to the kitchen just outside the study. He placed her on the side and started to hunt for something suitable for her to eat in the cupboards.
After a few moments he found something, some rice and an egg. He decided to use them to make a small bowl of Egg fried Rice for Malamon. After about ten minutes of preparing and slaving over the Hob he then proceeded to serve up a small bowl of steaming food for the little creature.
Kyle:"Here you go, I know it's not much but it will have to do for now, at least until I go out and buy some more supplies tomorrow"
Upon seeing the food placed in front of her she then felt an uncontrollable urge to eat very quickly, and she then proceeded to do just that. As she tucked into the rice Kyle was left there to think about this odd creature's purpose here with him.
Kyle: I wonder why this thing is here. It obviously isn't of this world but where is it from?
As Kyle thought Malamon finished her food but then began to feel very odd. She instantly collapsed onto her side and started to groan and shiver as if she had a horrible stomach ache.
Kyle:"Are you ok Malamon? You don't look at all well, maybe you ate too fast"
Malamon:"I -- I feel strange, I don't know what's happening"
Just as she finished speaking she started to glow bright yellow with cracks emitting from her body and started to grow slowly in size. She then sprouted two more tassel like objects from her head and her eyes grew in size. Finally she grew four small appendages at the base of her small body before the light dimmed and she lay there gasping in her new form.
Kyle:"This is new, Malamon are you ok? That was horrible"
Viximon:"I feel fine now, thank you Kyle but if I'm correct you don't need to call me Malamon anymore, you may now call me Viximon. It's what all Digimon do, we change our form and our name changes with it"
Kyle:"Digimon? So that's what you are, you're a Digimon. But one thing --- what exactly is a Digimon?"
Viximon:"A Digimon very simply is a life form made entirely from digital matter, I'm one of many different species of Digimon who live in the digital plain of existence which many call the Digital World"
Kyle:"Wait, so you're made from things like pixels and data? That's odd because you sitting right here in front of me, and you are also telling me that you one of many other forms of as you so call them Digimon?"
Kyle was confused by what this small creature was saying but at the same time intrigued. He then glanced at his watch on his wrist and it said 01.38am, he knew it was very late so he decided to carry on this subject in the morning. Putting forth the idea to Viximon and picking her up in order to head over the bedroom.
Kyle:"Well, it's late Malamon --- sorry; Viximon -- we need to be thinking about getting some rest. -- Jesus Christ! You remember I said fuzzy football earlier? Well it's more like fuzzy bowling ball now Sheesh, you've put on allot of weight over the last five minutes"
Viximon cracked a small smile as they made their way into the bedroom, Kyle then placed her on the side of the bed before getting himself ready for turning in for the night, little did he know what would await him in the morning.
